Its been awhile since I looked at my own site. i need better blogging software that lets me know when there are reactions.. Openblog seems to be pretty dead:(
So sorry if I haven't reacted to your posts, I'll add a few reactions here as it seems that the comment system has a few issues as well..
Omnis and subwindows.
@Alice, yes if you overdo it then you run into Omnis having more overhead then a compiled language.
Mind you, subwindows in your particular situation can give you a big advantage. Take a tab pane, put a subwindow field on each pane, and as the user selects a pane for the very first time, assign its $classname property to initialze the subwindow with the fields for that pane on it.
That means that instead of constructing your whole window when it opens, you offload a lot of the work to small hardly noticable chunks as the user selects the tabs.
It also means that any tab that takes some effort to load (remember, you're also waisting time loading stuff from your database) but is never selected by the user, never loads.
